<p>Now some of you may be asking: why would anyone want to use a Facebook page as an advertising tool for their brand when a normal profile is used to connect with people?</p>
<p>First, regular Facebook profiles have a contact limit of around 4,500+. Once you hit this upper limit, the profile will cease to accept new contact requests. Second, Facebook profiles are usually personal in nature; you don&#8217;t want to mix your public life and private life in Facebook.</p>
<p>Third, you will not be able to add third party applications to a regular Facebook profile. Third party applications and plug-ins can help make a Facebook page really shine.</p>
<p>Having a Facebook page is good; but having an attractive, interesting and interactive page is great! Just as we strive for excellence when we open windows of opportunity in Internet marketing; the same holds true for social network marketing.</p>
<p>Now we will take a look at the various components of a Facebook page:</p>
<p>1. Both Facebook pages and profiles have what is called a &#8216;wall&#8217;. The wall is the central location of activity of the Facebook page. You and your contacts can upload items to the wall.</p>
<p>You&#8217;re able to post text, videos and pictures on your wall. Your fans, those who have clicked the &#8220;Like&#8221; button on your page, can post as well. When something is posted on your wall, the post will also be published on the news feed.</p>
<p>2. News feed. The news feed is an endless roll of information that is generated when there is activity on your Facebook page.</p>
<p>3. Status updates: People with regular Facebook profiles aren&#8217;t the only ones that should make regular status updates. You can easily post status updates as the administrator of your very own Facebook page. Your updates will automatically be seen in the news feeds of the fans of your page as soon as they open their profiles.</p>
<p>Posting status updates is a quick and convenient way of informing your fans of promotional events, changes in operation hours, etc. Be brief though; a Facebook status update is limited to just 160 characters. If you have a main website, you can direct your fans there to find out more about a new promotional event, sale, etc.</p>
<p>4. Discussion: This particular feature allows individuals to create separate threads so that specific topics can easily be discussed on the same page.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t be nervous about having a platform for your business on your own Facebook page. Unless a very unlikely social networking crisis suddenly develops from your own discussion board, it is perfectly normal for individuals to have an open and genuine dialog regarding your products.</p>
<p>Usually people will post rather positive feedback on your Facebook page; however, there will be times when upset customers will post some negative reviews.</p>
<p>You are the administrator and owner of the Facebook page, therefore you have the option to respond to negative posts and clarify points and issues. You can also delete negative post if you should wish too, but I don&#8217;t recommend it. Customers usually see the deletion of negative post as a lack of confidence by the business in their own products. Instead, address the negative issues calmly and respectfully.</p>
<p>5. Applications: Nothing makes a Facebook page stand out like the correct use of appropriate applications. You&#8217;ve seen them; many websites have the Facebook logo which allows you to visit them on Facebook and hopefully &#8220;Like&#8221; their page. Make sure that the apps you choose to link to your website are compatible before using them. RSS feeds are very popular, commonly used apps on the Facebook business pages.</p>

So if you are someone who tires of learning easily of learning and don&#8217;t have a child-like curiosity within you, it might be time to find it, develop it or start figuring out how to have it because it will help you become more observant, a self-learner and who is curious about things. By becoming curious, you will automatically lead yourself to a more fulfilling area because you will have that burning passion, that desire in you to learn.</p>
<p>Even though this might seem to be really obvious for newbies, it still helps to think big and to expand your horizons.</p>

<p>Social media jobs are very popular right now, and the reason behind this is obvious. Every day we learn about how social media has altered the landscape of how companies do business, and even how people communicate to each other all the time. Then, you might wonder who you can get one of those fascinating social media jobs at a exciting social media agency or online marketing firm in New York or San Francisco. The truth is that it is both difficult and incredibly easy.</p>
<p>First off, chances are that you are a college graduate. In my experience, the exact major that you had doesn&#8217;t seem to be very important, but it never hurts to go with something related. Public relations, communications, or even a social media major seem to be perfect fits. I personally majored in English Lit, which gave me a whole lot of writing skills. As you can see, there is no &#8220;one path&#8221; for becoming a social media expert, so don&#8217;t worry too much about what your particular background is.</p>
<p>However, the most critical thing you can get is experience. If you can land an internship at a social media agency, that would be great. This could turn into a paying job if you do a good enough job and, at the very least, you&#8217;ll be able to put something onto your resume. However, internships can be verycompetitive, so it makes sense that you try to make your resume as attractive as possible for any potential employer.</p>
<p>And that&#8217;s where my little tactic comes in. While going to school I came across a nonprofit that preserved lighthouse. They were doing a lot of wonderful work, but nobody was hearing about them. Therefore I called them up and offered my services. Suddenly I was creating a Twitter and Facebook page for them and doing everything in my power to make them (and me) look good. When it came time to apply to internships, I really had something to tell them. Even if you&#8217;ve done an internship, consider offering your services for free: at the very least it will be something to add to your resume.</p>
<p>Finally (although, it should be first) you should make sure that you know how social media works inside and out. Go to blogs. Read books. Work on your own Facebook and Twitter pages. Chances are that you already know the medium if you want to work in it, but everybody could use a refresher course.</p>
